The Classics Faculty welcomes applications from well qualified candidates for postgraduate study. There are currently about 90 graduate students working in the Faculty across a diverse range of classical topics.
The Faculty of Classics offers two graduate degrees, a one-year master's course, the MPhil in Classics, and a doctoral degree, the three-year PhD (see the menu for further details).
Each graduate student is assigned a principal 'supervisor' to guide their research. There is a list of current Faculty members here which will give some indication of the range of research interests we can cover.
You can also find information about the activities of each of the Faculty's 'caucuses' (subject area groups) here and a list of current seminars here to give you a sense of what is going on in the Faculty.
You can also read what some of our current and recent graduates have to say by looking at some graduate profiles.
How to apply
Applications are made, electronically, through the Board of Graduate Studies of the University. The Board of Graduate Studies website will guide you through the process. It also provides other information about graduate studies at Cambridge including a list of frequently asked questions, and answers.
Application Deadlines
Applicants must be aware that there are different deadlines for the receipt of their application for admission because of the different funding bodies to which applicants are applying for financial support and the need for the Faculty to be able to complete the admissions process well ahead of the funding process. Please read all the information carefully.
