The Cambridge Greek Play

Scene from 2010 play

Every three years a production of ancient Greek drama is staged in Cambridge, in the original language with surtitling. Teachers and school students are very warmly encouraged to attend this exciting and unusual opportunity to experience Greek drama, and recent productions have almost always been sold out. For some, the experience may even set in train a desire to apply to Cambridge and participate in a future play!

The next Greek Play will run from October 16th to 19th 2013, and will be a double-bill consisting of the Prometheus Bound followed by Aristophanes' Frogs. Both plays will be slightly abridged to produce an evening of around two hours, with an interval. The production comes from much the same team that created 2010's acclaimed Agamemnon, including director Helen Eastman.

Please visit www.cambridgegreekplay.com for further information. That website is currently (as of late November 2012) under construction, but will be updated continuously until the performance, with features about the history of the Cambridge Greek Play, essays about this year's dramas by experts from Cambridge University and elsewhere, pictures from rehearsals, and much more.
