The Faculty Building

The Faculty is housed in a purpose-built building. Stage 1, so called because it was the first part to be built, contains the main entrance, adjoining the Library and Enquiries Office. Stage 2 is accessed from the first floor of Stage 1 by a linking bridge. Stage 3 adjoins Stage 2 at the far end of the building. Both Stage 2 and Stage 3 also have their own ground-floor entrances. The building is open from 8.30 am – 7.00 pm Monday to Friday in term time and 8.30 am – 5.00 pm out of term. The Enquiries Office is usually open from 8.30 am – 5.00 pm Monday to Thursday and until 4 pm on Fridays. In addition to administrative offices, lecture and seminar rooms, and a number of offices for University Teaching Officers, the building contains the following.

Common rooms

The Undergraduate Common Room, housing hot and cold drinks and snack machines, is in Stage 2, on the first floor. Staff and Graduate Students can use the common room in Stage 3, G.22, at lunchtimes and for formal meetings – at other times it is bookable as a teaching room.
