Museum of Classical Archaeology

Services for Secondary Schools

The Museum isn't just for primary schools! Older children can benefit from creative writing, inspired by myths or ancient history. Or use the remains of ancient Athens - including casts of the Parthenon marbles - to talk about democracy and citizenship.

A taught or self-led visit to the Museum complements several A-level subjects, too:

  • Archaeology AS Module 3 (Religion and Ritual - the Roman world) and A2 Module 5 (Material Culture and Technology)
  • Art and Design Practical skills for Fine Art and Three-Dimensional Design
  • Classical Civilisation AS Modules 3 (Greek Architecture) and 4 (Greek Sculpture)
  • History of Art AS Modules 1 (Ways of Seeing) and 2 (The Birth and Rebirth of Western Art), and A2 Module 5 (Historical Study 1 - galleries and museums).

All groups must be booked with us in advance, whether taught or self-led. Our education service is free but donations are welcome, to offset the cost of materials and contribute to gallery maintenance.
