Dr Yannis Galanakis will be taking up the position of University Lecturer in Classics (Greek Prehistory) on 1 January 2013. He is currently the Curator for the Aegean Collections and the Sir Arthur Evans Archive at the Ashmolean Museum. He completed his BA in Athens and MPhil and DPhil in Oxford. He also held a JRF in Oxford and has recently been elected to a Fellowship at the Hellenic Center at Harvard University which he will take up from August until his arrival in Cambridge in January. His research interests include the art and archaeology of Bronze and Early Iron Age Aegean, mortuary archaeology and architecture, museums and the collection and display of the past, the 19th-century trafficking of Mediterranean antiquities, archaeological legislation, and the integration of material, textual, historical and scientific-based research.
Dr Myrto Hatzimichali will be taking up the position of University Lecturer in Classics (Philosophy) on 1 September 2012. She is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Classics and Ancient History in the University of Exeter and has degrees from the Universities of Thessaloniki and Oxford. Her research interests include late Hellenistic philosophy, ancient commentaries on Aristotle, and other aspects of intellectual activity centred around the Library of Alexandria, such as grammar and literary criticism.
