Appointment in Archaeology

Dr Alessandro Launaro has been appointed to a University Lectureship in Classical Archaeology
Dr Alessandro Launaro will be taking up the position of University
Lecturer in Classics (Classical Archaeology) on 1 September 2013. He holds
degrees from the University of Pisa and he is currently a Leverhulme Early
Career Research Fellow here in the Faculty of Classics. He is also a
Research Fellow of Darwin College. His research interests range from the
archaeology of towns and landscapes in the Ancient Mediterranean (with a
special emphasis on Roman Italy) to various aspects of the political,
social and economic development of the Classical World (population,
colonisation/imperialism, patterns of production, distribution and
consumption) as seen through both material and textual evidence.
