The Samuel H. Kress Lectureship in Ancient Art is a prestigious award which funds two distinguished foreign scholars to lecture to the Archaeological Institute of America. The AIA is North America’s oldest and largest organisation devoted to archaeology, with nearly 250,000 members. The Kress Lecturer has to address thirteen AIA societies. Dr Galanakis will be combining these lectures with his academic duties in Cambridge. He will be lecturing about
his ongoing research on the 19th-century trafficking of Greek antiquities, and on topics related to Aegean Archaeology.
