Head of a Bearded Male
This is a Roman version of an early Hellenistic figure of a bearded man, with a pronounced twist in the neck to the viewer’s left. It is probably part of a full length figure. Some have claimed that the prototype was by Lysippos, on account of a resemblance to the famous Apoxyomenos and another sculpture by Lysippos of a bearded athlete, in Dresden. The nose is restored
