Where am I?

Mausoleum at Halikarnassos, Head of Apollo

This larger-than-life male head was found in four very weathered fragments. It is from a figure in action with upturned head and slightly open mouth, beardless, and with long flowing hair gathered up on top of his head; these are all characteristics of Apollo as he was depicted at the time.

The scale is different from that of the other free-standing sculptures from the Mausoleum, suggesting that it may have been part of a sculptural group on the roof of the monument
