Where am I?

Torso of Aphrodite of Knidos

This torso is Roman copy of the fourth century BCE original. It shows the distinctive Praxitelean S-shaped curve of the spine.

The original of this cast was owned by the French neoclassical artist Ingres. In 1841 he was appointed director of the Villa Medici in Rome, so instead of taking the sculpture with him he gave it to the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris
