Landscape and Stone

Oil Paintings of Lazio, Italy by Emily Fowke

February 2nd - March 3rd 2015

Emily Fowke is a Cambridge artist working mainly in oil and acrylic. She takes her inspiration from the colour harmonies and atmosphere of the natural world. This interest is more than aesthetic, as Emily intends to use her work to highlight the need to protect nature from the increased urban focus of life and the dangers of pollution and global warming. Landscape and Stone takes its inspiration from a summer spent in the countryside near to Rome, surrounded by lakes and hills, and importantly, monuments of the ancient world. This exhibition reflects the interchange between the natural landscape and the ancient works of stone as an artistic interpretation of the land of Lazio.
