greekplay

Every three years a production of ancient Greek drama is staged in Cambridge, in the original language with English subtitles. The show has professional direction and design, and student actors and crew. Teachers and students are very warmly encouraged to attend this exciting and unusual opportunity to experience Greek drama. For some, the experience may even set in train a desire to apply to Cambridge and participate in a future play!

The Cambridge Greek Play committee is also pleased to announce that the 2022 production will be a double bill of THE PERSIANS and CYCLOPS. The Committee invites Cambridge students and alumni interested in being involved as both cast and crew to drop them a message at cambridgegreekplay22@gmail.com.  Enquiries about the play should also be addressed to this email.

Tickets can be Purchased here

The most recent Greek play was held in October 2019 and was a modern day version of Sophocles' Oedipus at Colonus. Details on the production can be found at cambridgegreekplay.com.

The Museum of Classical Archaeology is offering one-hour slots for schools wishing to visit before the Greek play, whether for self-led visits or museum-led tours. Slots are available at 10am, 11am and 12pm on Weds 19 – Friday 20 October. Group size is capped at 25.
