Our aim is to make our images of our collection available as widely as possible, in order to increase reach and awareness of our casts, artefacts and archival items – and we are using Creative Commons content licences to make it easier to use our images.

Please note: Creative Commons licences may not apply to all the images on our website. This will especially be the case where copyright is owned by a third party, particularly in the case of exhibition works.

We are very sorry, but we do not provide a public print service.

How to request an image

We are not yet able to make high-quality images available via our website or catalogue, so you will need to get in touch to request our images. We may ask you to provide some information about your publication, especially if it is academic, for our records. If you are unsure if your intended use or publication is non-commercial, please do get in touch.

If your request is for commercial usage, please contact us so that we can discuss your needs and so that we can licence your use of our images. The terms and conditions of our licences are available online.

Please note: we do not generally charge for new photography, since we take most images in-house. However, if you require new professional photographs, we may pass on the costs.
