Coronavirus Update: University of Cambridge Museums Reopening Statement

The University of Cambridge Museums welcome the Government’s announcement that museums in England can reopen from 4 July.

Our first priority is the safety of staff and visitors, meaning each museum will only open their doors to the public when all necessary safety measures are in place.

Our collections will reopen in phases, according to government guidelines and the unique characteristics of each venue.

Being an outdoor space, the Botanic Garden is already open to the general public. For full details on the Botanic Garden reopening and visiting guidelines, visit their website.

We will continue to update this page with reopening dates and safety information, and look forward to welcoming you back to the University Museums and Botanic Garden soon.

The Museum of Classical Archaeology will not reopen on Monday 4 July. We do not currently have a date set for reopening and we thank you for your patience as we negotiate these unprecedented times.

Coronovirus Update: Temporary Closure of the Museum of Classical Archaeology from Wednesday 18 March

Dear all,

We are very sad to announce that the Museum of Classical Archaeology will be closing from 5pm today, Tuesday 17 March 2020.

In light of the developing situation with the spread of COVID-19 and the announcements made by the government on 16 March, we have made the difficult decision to close the Cast Gallery in order to protect the health and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers and visitors. All public events are cancelled or postponed, and bookings for our free education service are on hold until further notice.

However, whilst we are closed we aim to remain open online: join us on Facebook or Twitter. We aim to remain engaged with our audiences (that's you!) and communities through our digital channels. If you would like to support our work, including our continuing programme to conserve our casts for future generations, please consider donating.

If you have made a booking, we aim to be in touch with you soon if we haven't already. If you have any concerns or queries, please email museum@classics.cam.ac.uk

We will update this page with any changes relating to the Coronavirus update.

Best wishes,

Dr Yannis Galanakis
Director, MOCA

“As the Botanic Garden is open-air, this site remains open to the public for the time being but anyone wishing to visit should first check the website for updates, and continue to follow the Government’s advice.
