Biography
I completed a BA in Classics at Corpus Christi College, Oxford and came to Cambridge for an MPhil in History and Philosophy of Science at Gonville & Caius and then a PhD in History and Philosophy of Science at Robinson. Along the way I also completed a part-time BSc in Mathematics at the Open University. I am now Lloyd-Dan David Research Fellow at the Needham Research Institute and Darwin College.
Research
I have broad interests in science, medicine, and mathematics in ancient Greece and China. My work on Greek science has focussed on mechanics and medicine and I have finished my first book manuscript on the Mechanica in the Aristotelian Corpus. I am now writing a second book comparing Greek and Chinese medicine. I also convene a weekly Classical Chinese reading group at the Needham Research Institute.
