Simulacra

An exhibition by Zachary Eastwood-Bloom

Tuesday 4 April - NEW END DATE Tuesday 18 July 2023

Zachary Eastwood-Bloom is an artist who is fascinated by the intersection of art and technology, and how the two can be combined to create something entirely new and unexpected. His latest exhibition, Simulacra, uses the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning to create a series of sculptures and images that draw inspiration from classical sculpture and painting.

The concept of simulacra is central to Eastwood-Bloom's work in this show. Through the use of machine learning algorithms, he creates digital representations of classical sculptures and paintings that have been inputted into the program. These representations are then transformed and distorted, resulting in entirely new forms that are both familiar and strange.

By using machine learning in his artistic process, Eastwood-Bloom is exploring the ways in which technology can be used to push the boundaries of traditional art forms. His sculptures and images are not simply copies of classical works, but rather, they are unique creations that challenge our preconceived notions of what art can be.

Through Simulacra, Eastwood-Bloom hopes to spark a conversation about the relationship between art and technology, and to inspire viewers to consider the ways in which these two fields can work together to create something truly extraordinary. The exhibition is being showcased at the Cambridge Museum of Classical Archaeology, and Eastwood-Bloom is excited to share his vision with the world.
