A panel discussion on decolonising 'the museum,' featuring the voices of people of colour working on the issue.
Our speakers are:
- Cina Aissa, an artist educator and a member of Museum Detox (a network for museum and gallery workers of colour)
- Dr Zainab Bahrani, Professor of Art History and Archaeology at Columbia University who specialises in Ancient Near Eastern and East Mediterranean art and archaeology
- Hardeep Dhindsa, a Classics PHD student at Kings College London who specialises in the history of whiteness and white supremacy in classical reception' and a freelance illustrator who recolours ancient statues in eye-popping colours to disrupt the images of whiteness we see in museums today.
The link to join will be circulated to faculty members via email.
This is a student-led event, aiming to provide space for discussion amongst our student body. It is facilitated by the Museum of Classical Archaeology.
