What this role will entail:

Volunteers will support the Museum of Classical Archaeology’s summer exhibition programme, Cultured Canines: Evolution, Emotion, Imitation. This role will suit anyone who is keen to take on a public-facing role which involves talking to members of the public. Prior knowledge of our museum is not a necessity, just an enthusiasm for engaging with visitors and willingness to learn. This opportunity may involve engaging with visitors, gallery stewarding, and craft activity support.

Why the Museum of Classical Archaeology needs this role:

This summer’s exhibition is Cultured Canines: Evolution, Emotion, Imitation by artist Allison Ksiazkiewicz. We’ll need help to keep the works in the show safe and secure by stewarding the exhibition space in our Cast Gallery – and to talk to the visitors about the show. In the summer months.  We will also be running a daily activity for families which we’ll need volunteers to oversee.

Potential time commitment:

This volunteer role is for the duration of our exhibition Cultured Canines: Evolution, Imitation, Emotion, which runs from late July until the end of October. The volunteering pattern will be 3.5 hour shifts, Tuesday – Friday, either 10am to 1.30pm or 1.30pm to 5pm.

Ideally you would be available for the entire period of the exhibition (late July until end of October) and commit to at least one shift per week. We are flexible about this commitment, so please do get in touch if you have any questions.
