Research
I have undertaken research and published in a number of areas, ranging from the work of scholars based at the great Library of Alexandria, to Aristotle's biological works (these interests might sometimes intersect: see publications on the early reception of Aristotle's biology and on the Aristotelian Mirabilia). I have also done work on the history of the Aristotelian corpus, the Peripatetic tradition (especially physics and ethics) and on the Greek commentaries on Aristotle's Categories. I am currently looking to pursue further projects on Aristotle (especially on the Historia Animalium) and on ancient theories of language and grammar.

Teaching and supervision
I lecture and supervise undergraduate students on all the topics offered in ancient philosophy, and I also contribute to language teaching (reading classes on Greek texts and Greek Accents. In 2026-27 I will be lecturing primarily on Aristotle and on Plato's Republic. I supervise MPhil students across all areas of Greek and Roman philosophy, and my PhD students past and present have worked on the Neoplatonist Proclus, on Aristotle's metaphysics and on Plato's Republic.
