Malcolm Schofield, Professor of Ancient Philosophy
A well-known writer on many areas of ancient philosophy. His most recent publication on philosophy in the first century BC is 'Aenesidemus: Pyrrhonist and "Heraclitean"', in A.M. Ioppolo & D.N. Sedley (eds.), Pyrrhonists, Patricians, Platonizers: Hellenistic Philosophy in the period 155-86 BC (Rome 2007) 269-338. He is currently working mainly on Cicero, where his most recent publications are 'Cicero, Zeno of Citium, and the vocabulary of philosophy', in M.Canto-Sperber & P.Pellegrin (eds.), Le Style de la pensée: Recueil de textes en hommage à J.Brunschwig (Paris 2002) 412-28, and 'Academic therapy: Philo of Larissa and Cicero's project in the Tusculans', in E.G.Clark and T.Rajak (eds.), Philosophy and Power: Festschrift M.Griffin (Oxford 2002) 91-109. More Cicero articles are in the pipeline, and slightly further down the road will be a general book on the philosophy of Cicero commissioned by Polity Press.
